Research report analyzes Vlaams Belang election program from a human rights perspective

Researchers from Ghent University and Hasselt University have analysed the election program of the Flemish political party Vlaams Belang from a human rights perspective. In response to societal questions in this respect, they investigated the extent to which the program contains violations of human rights, as set out in the European Convention on Human Rights. The research report shows that various points in the election program are indeed in violation of human rights. The violations mainly concern the themes of religion, migration, social rights and the rights of suspects and perpetrators.

The authors of the report are prof. Eva Brems, prof. Ellen Desmet, Benoit Dhondt, dr. Laurens Lavrysen, Ruben Wissing (UGent) and prof. Stijn Smet (UHasselt).
