Alex Geraki Trimi (they/them) is a doctoral researcher within the Migration Law Research Group (MigrLaw) and the Human Rights Centre (HRC) at Ghent University. Their research within the Global Migration Justice: Beyond conflicting approaches to migration in international human rights law – MIGJUST project explores the balance struck by the UN Treaty Bodies between the states’ prerogative to control migration and migrants’ rights, as part of a larger comparative analysis of the Inter-American, African and European case law in the field of migration.
Alex holds an LLM degree in International Human Rights Law from Lund University (Sweden) and an LLB degree in Law from SOAS, University of London (UK). They have worked as an asylum lawyer in Greece and have experience with strategic litigation on border justice before international human rights courts.
