Evelyn Merckx is a voluntary post-doctoral assistant affiliated with Ghent University. In November 2022, she defended her doctoral dissertation on child-friendly justice in child custody and contact cases in the context of parental separation. During her doctoral research, she worked as a teaching assistant for Prof. Dr. Yves Haeck in the field of human rights law. She holds a Master of Law from Ghent University (2014, Cum Laude). Her research interests concern international human rights law, juvenile justice, children’s rights, family law, international humanitarian law and (international) criminal law.
Evelyn Merckx currently works as a legal scholar on juvenile justice at the Flemish Office Growing Up (Vlaams Agentschap Opgroeien).
