Kauan Juliano Cangussu is research member of the Programme for Studies on Human Rights in Context at Ghent University. He is a MA student in Human Rights and Multi-level governance at University of Padua and a lawyer. He worked as an intern in the Brazilian Public Prosecutor and Public Defender’s Office, where he provided legal assistance to vulnerable segments of Brazilian society. He has been Student Research in the Project Social Movements, Land and Citizenship in Juscelino Kubitschek Era, and a volunteer in the extension projects Refuge, Migrations and Hospitality and Popular Legal Counsel Movement, both from the Federal University of Paraná. He holds a Law Degree and is a History BA student from the same university. Kauan’s interests lie in legal history, legal anthropology and international human rights law. Kauan works under the supervision of Prof Clara Burbano Herrera and Prof Yves Haeck.
