Olivier Ubananeza is a doctoral researcher at the Human Rights Centre.
Olivier holds a Master’s degree in law from Ghent University (2017) and a Bachelor’s degree in law from Université Saint Louis in Brussels (2012).
His research covers the advancement of LGBTIQ* human rights within the African Human Rights system with a focus on the work of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and its interaction with civil society on sexual orientation and gender identity issues.
Title of his research: The issue of LGBTIQ* rights in the discourse and practices of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
His Master’s thesis was about the EU’s strategic partnership with the African Union on the fight against irregular immigration.
