Sarah Schoentjes' Bio

Sarah Schoentjes started her doctoral research at the HRC in November 2020, following her appointment as a fellow at the FWO (Flanders Research Foundation).

Her study, carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Eva Brems and Dr. Pieter Cannoot, focuses on the implementation of intersectional reasoning in the decisions of international human rights monitoring bodies.

Sarah holds a Bachelor and Master of Laws from Ghent University, and spent one semester of her Master’s program studying at Fribourg University (Switzerland). Before starting her PhD, she worked for the legal department of the Belgian Institute for the equality of women and men.
