Shana Vanderveken holds a Master of Laws degree (University of Ghent, 2014). Since 2014, she works as an attorney at the bar of Ghent. She is specialized in family law and since 2018 she holds a certificate to assist minors in legal procedures
After working as a teaching assistant (2021-2023), she became an academic assistant and PhD researcher (70%) under the guidance of Professor Wendy De Bondt at the Department Criminology, Criminal Law and Social Law at the Faculty of Law (Ghent University). Her main area of expertise is youth law, juvenile justice and children’s rights.
Shana provides assistance for the following courses: ‘Children’s Rights’ and ‘Youth Law’.
Her PhD research focuses on how minors understand and are able to exercise their rights.
