Sien Devriendt is a PhD Research Fellow and academic assistant within the research group of (Belgian and international) Constitutional Law (Department of European, Public and International Law). She holds a Master of Law from Ghent University, graduating magna cum laude. During her studies, Sien did an internship at the civil court in Ghent. She also participated in an interrogation and research by the local investigation cell Meprosch (human trafficking- prostitution- marriage of convenience) in Ghent. These experiences taught her how to apply oral and written skills within different branches of law.
Sien assists Prof. Dr. Johan Vande Lanotte in the Bachelor course of Constitutional Law. She co-teaches Practical exercises of Constitutional Law. She supervises bachelor and master theses. Sien is co-editor of the Belgian Constitutional Law Blog.
The title of her doctoral research is ‘Actief pluralisme en actief burgerschap in het Vlaams officieel onderwijs: een studie van de theorie en praktijk rond levensbeschouwelijke diversiteit’ (Active pluralism and active citizenship in Flemish formal education: a study of the theory and practice of ideological diversity).
