Prisons and Covid-19 in Latin America

The protection of human rights of persons deprived of liberty is a challenge in several countries of the Latin-American region. Prisons in Latin America are overcrowded places, forgotten by public policy and with serious health problems. This thesis will analyze the situation of prisons during the covid-19 period and the answers given by one the region’s most important human rights watchdogs, namely Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (and possibly other human rights supervisory bodies).
