Human Rights Defenders under Siege
During the past years worldwide human rights defenders are being targeted for doing their job. Such attacks may be of a physical, but also of a psychological nature, and they may target the human rights defenders themselves and/or their families. This study aims to evaluatie what kinds of legal mechanisms exist under international law, i.e. regional and universal human rights mechanisms, to provide protection to human rights defenders, and what extent these mechanisms are effective.
